Embrace Your Individuality: Discovering Your Unique Wedding Style
Your wedding day is one of the most special days of your life, and it’s important that you feel comfortable and confident in your bridal wear. However, many brides feel pressure to conform to traditional expectations when it comes to wedding attire. I believe that every bride should feel proud to stand out as a unique and confident individual on their wedding day.
Traditionally, brides are expected to wear a white dress with a veil and train. While this can be a beautiful and iconic look, it’s really not for everyone. It actually makes me feel sad that so many brides feel pressure to conform to these traditional expectations, even if it doesn’t reflect their personal style or personality. When I was getting married I tried on traditional wedding dresses and honestly it made me want to cry as I just felt so uncomfortable and out of place hence why I decided to create a design that represented me and suited my body shape. With these feelings of discomfort or insecurity on your wedding day, please do not ever put yourself through this for the sake of others expectations. If you are feeling this way, take a breath and tell yourself ‘it is my choice’ and anyone who truly cares about you would never want you to feel like that on your special day.
The Importance of Reflecting Your Personality
There are many ways to achieve this, from incorporating non-traditional colours or fabrics to the embellishments. For example, if you love bold colours, consider a wedding dress in a non-traditional hue like blush or champagne. If you’re a bohemian at heart, consider a flowy and romantic dress with lace or crochet details. Or if you are like me (a vintage soul) you could consider looking at restoring a vintage dress (perhaps a loved ones old wedding dress?) and have it redesigned to fit you and bring a modern touch to it.
